Replace your missing teeth and save a fortune with the All-on-4® treatment concept in Los Algodones, Mexico, a full-arch rehabilitation technique provided by Nobel Biocare®.
Visiting Los Algodones as a Dental Tourist
This small Mexican town, also known as Molar City, is a popular tourist destination and known for inexpensive shopping, restaurants and affordable dental care. Every year, tens of thousands of Americans and Canadians descend on Los Algodones for safe, low-priced dental treatment, saving between 40-75% on their treatments.
The growth of pharmacies, opticians, and dental clinics started in the 1980s; from then on, the dental tourism industry has boomed. Today, tourists from Canada, the USA and other countries visit Los Algodones Molar City for dental treatments, with the region's warm and dry climate attracting snowbirds from the north in search of winter sun.
What's more, the town is easy to reach for people based in Southern California and Arizona, while an international airport in nearby Yuma (Arizona) is only a few minutes' drive away.
This mouth restoration technique was first developed by world-renowned implantologist Dr. Paulo Malo in the 1980s.
After a consultation to ensure healthy bone structure and the absence of infection, patients are able to have all their teeth in the upper or lower jaw replaced on just four dental implants.
The longer rear implants are placed strategically at a 45-degree angle, rather than the traditional 90-degree angle. This provides a larger surface area for the bone to integrate with the implant, as well as increased stability. In many cases, this can negate the need for bone graft surgery for patients who have suffered bone loss or deterioration.
Using special adjoining abutments and coping cylinders, an immediate arch (or fixed bridge) of replacement teeth is then attached. This is then replaced after a healing phase (of approximately six months) with a final (permanent) restoration.
How Do I Maintain My Fixed Bridge?
Patients are instructed to avoid hard foods during the initial healing period so as to avoid exerting too much pressure on the implants and gums, which need time to heal. Brushing should also be avoided for the first two weeks, with a special mouthwash prescribed instead.
Following the placement of the final restoration, simply keep up with your daily oral hygiene by brushing, flossing, and rinsing with an antibacterial mouthwash. Make sure you see your dentist for regular checkups and teeth cleaning.
Am I a Good Candidate for the Treatment?
Your dentist in Algodones will assess whether the All-on-4® treatment concept is best for you. A comprehensive examination will be taken. This includes a review of your medical and dental health conditions and tests like cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). After the assessment, the dentist will confirm if this is the best option for you.
In case you have a dental phobia, you need not be concerned: many clinics offer sedation dentistry (with local anesthesia), which makes you relaxed during treatment. Feel free to discuss this with your dentist, as options may differ between clinics.
