The newly-opened Smile Makers Group (SMG) is led by Dr. Paola Duque and Dr. Carlos Marquez, two experienced, internationally accredited dental surgeons who have established an excellent reputation in Los Algodones—Mexico’s most popular dental tourism destination.

Having previously worked at two of the largest dental clinics here on the US-Mexico border, Smile Makers’ founders have amassed more than two decades of clinical experience between them, helping thousands of North American patients transform their smiles and overall oral health with savings of up to 70% compared to back home.

This experienced dentist is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and is certified by the International Team for Implantology (ITI).

Since graduating as a dental surgeon in 2012, she has carried out continuous training, attending courses and seminars in Central America, South America, Europe, and the United States, including a residency (2014) at University San Francisco de Quito Ecuador (periodontal surgical techniques); a workshop in advanced implant dentistry/periodontics in Jerusalem (2016); an “All-on-X” course (full-arch implant ninja education) by Ivan Chicchon in California (2020); and a surgical protocols course by Dr. Paulo Malo (Lisbon 2018), the pioneer of Nobel Biocare’s All-on-4® treatment concept.

As an expert in gum disease treatment and implant-based restorations, Dr. Marquez holds memberships with the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and the International Team for Implantology (ITI).

Similarly, he has attended more than 20 different courses and seminars around the world over the last decade, including the ITI World Congress in 2017; the International Congress of Orthodontics, Endodontics, Implants and Pharmacology in Morelia (2018); and official courses by global dental implant brands MIS®, Neodent® and Straumann®.

The founders of Smile Makers Group also work with the highly-trained endodontic specialist Dr. Claudia Florez, as well as two experienced dental assistants.

Alternatively, the clinic offers a free pick-up service from other points of entry into this small but thriving border town, as well as transfers to the nearest international airport in Yuma, Arizona, (a short 20-minute drive to the clinic).
