You don’t have to put up with tooth decay or, in extreme cases, resort to DIY dentistry; get the help you need by going abroad–with International patients in Poland enjoying the opportunity to combine first-class treatment with an exciting holiday.
Keep reading to discover how much you could save, and how your dental holiday to Poland can be all the more rewarding with Dental Departures on your side.

Poland has an excellent reputation for providing accessible, highly-quality dental care to both local and international patients.
Dental patients needn’t worry that they’re heading into lifeless former communist-era medical facilities in drab towering blocks; contrary to this old stereotype, Poland is a picturesque, contemporary and vibrant country to visit–packed with both history and all the modern conveniences you can find in Western Europe, but for a fraction of the cost.
Here are some of the reasons why patients choose Poland for dental care:
Highly Skilled Dentists
Poland’s education standard is one of the world’s highest, including that of the dental education system. Our partner dentists received their training from top universities in Poland and oftentimes acquired parts of their specialised training from abroad.
Dental care is heavily regulated by The Polish Dental Council (Polskie Towarzystwo Stomatologiczne). The council sets high standards of care by monitoring every dentist’s performance to ensure skills are up to date while continuous dental education keeps them abreast of every new development in the field.
All Polish dentists must be registered with the Polish Chamber of Physicians and Dentists which requires dentists to demonstrate their latest skills and knowledge every five years in order to renew their professional license.
In addition, most dentists are internationally certified with ISO9001 and TEMOS accreditations to ensure they are providing patients with the highest quality dental care possible.
State-of-the-art Technology
Poland is no stranger to leading-edge technology. Our partner clinics are well-equipped with advanced machinery including panoramic X-ray, 3D intraoral scanners and diagnostic equipment including computed tomography (CT) and pantomography.
Many of our certified clinics are equipped with their own in-house digital laboratories, which enable technicians to quickly produce customised prostheses, such as dentures, crowns or veneers–sometimes while a patient waits.
A Chance to Combine Treatment with a Memorable Holiday
Make the most out of your holiday by exploring Poland’s stunning natural wonders, along with its unforgettable history and cultural heritage. Renowned for its museums, UNESCO World Heritage sites and medieval castles, this is an ideal destination for history enthusiasts.
The capital, Warsaw, boasts a wide range of sightseeing attraction–from its main Old Town quarter to the post-WWII landmarks like the Palace of Culture and Science, and the more modern Copernicus Science Center or POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews. Delve into the history of the Second World War at the Uprising Museum to learn more about Warsaw residents who bravely fought for independence in 1944.
Krakow, located in southern Poland, is the country’s cultural and intellectual centre. It’s home to numerous historical landmarks and UNESCO World Heritage Site making it the most popular city among local and international tourists.
Explore other parts of Poland for its many natural parks, where you’ll find diverse and stunning landscapes from majestic caves to a sprawling desert–and breeding grounds for wild European bison. Poland is the only place in the continent where you’ll find these magnificent creatures roaming and grazing grass in the lush forests.

Where Is Poland?
Officially called the Republic of Poland, it is located in Central Europe at the heart of the continent. It’s bordered by multiple countries including Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania and Russia to the east and northeast; Germany to the west, and the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south–with the Baltic Sea on the north coast of the country.
Is Poland Safe?
Poland is considered a safe country to visit. The crime rate is low, and the people are friendly and welcoming. Be mindful of pickpockets and keep a close eye on your valuables when walking around a crowded-touristy area like Krakow’s city centre. As long as you take basic precautions, you should be safe in Poland.
Despite the war in Ukraine, Poland is safe but you should avoid the border areas in case of any spillovers.

Patients on a tight budget should have no problems finding good accommodation in Poland as the cost of living is much lower than in the UK or Germany. Multiple major hotel chains are also represented throughout the country along with luxury and boutique hotels.
For general price ranges (per night), here is what to expect:
Budget: £20 - £30 (hostels, guesthouses, and budget hotels)
Mid-range: £30 - £60 (standard hotels and apartments)
Luxury: £80 - £200+ (upscale hotels, spas, and resorts)
Depending on your treatment, we recommend international patients stay in close proximity to the clinic as multiple visits to the dentist may be required. Contact our Customer Care Team for assistance with hotel booking.
Is Poland Wheelchair Accessible?
Warsaw and Krakow are wheelchair-friendly cities. Wheelchair access is available in most hotels, clinics, buses and trams - most restaurants and cafes may not have wheelchair access but there is plenty of outdoor seating. Smooth sidewalks and curb ramps are common throughout the city streets, even in the Old Town area.
Our partner clinic facilities are wheelchair accessible. However, you should notify clinical staff before your scheduled appointment if wheelchair assistance is needed.
What Is the Language in Poland? Do Dentists Speak English?
Our partner dentists are fluent in English and their clinics employ multilingual staff due to the majority of patients coming from countries like the UK, Germany and Sweden. English is widely spoken in Poland, especially in hospitality and tourism.
Around town, you may find it easier to speak English with the younger generations; however, language can be a barrier with the older generations due to the Soviet influence as English speaking was not encouraged.
What Happens If Something Goes Wrong? Is the Work Guaranteed?
Our dentists in Poland guarantee their work, including lab work on prosthetics, such as veneers, dentures, crowns and dental implants. If something does go wrong, Dental Departures will work on patients’ behalf to resolve any issues patients may experience.
What Payment Methods Are Accepted by Dentists in Poland?
The official currency in Poland is the zloty. Euros are accepted in hotels or major shops and exchange rates can be crippling. It’s best to carry the Polish zloty during your travels in Poland.
Our dentists accept a number of payment methods, including:
- Cash
- Traveler's cheques
- Debit cards
- Credit cards
- Bank transfers
You should check with your clinic to learn what methods are accepted.

For long distances, rail travel is one of the most preferred ways to get around Poland as it is comfortable, convenient and reaches most parts of the country.
For travelling within major cities, tram and trolleybus networks are the most commonly used. Private taxis are available in major cities and the best way to book a ride is through Uber or iTaxi apps.
Of course, visitors can rent a private car to explore rural areas, far-away national parks or smaller towns. Most major car rental companies including Hertz, Alamo and Sixt operate in Poland.

When Is the Best Time to Visit a Dentist in Poland?
Head to Poland during spring and fall if you enjoy milder temperatures and want to avoid the high temperatures of summer and low extremes of winter. The best months to visit are May to June and from September to October as temperatures will be comfortably mild, around 15°C - 21°C.
You can expect to pay higher prices on flights and accommodations during those high-season months, but for most of us it is worth the extra cost.
What Else Is There to See and Do in Poland?
Poland has so much to offer visitors–you can easily spend a couple of weeks there and not even scratch the surface. And best of all, Poland is not overly touristy. Unlike most destinations in Western Europe, you will be able to enjoy a more authentic travel experience.
Here are some popular places to visit preferably before any major dental procedures:
- Wieliczka Salt Mine
Take an engaging guided tour 327 meters below the earth’s surface to this colossal underground kingdom–where virtually everything is made of salt! The mine began operations in the 13th century until commercial mining ceased in 1996. The mine contains galleries with statues carved from salt along with many works of art –there’s even a chapel where mass is held every Sunday. The Wieliczka Salt Mine was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1978.
- Chopin Museum
Classical music fans should pay a visit to the famous composer Fryderyk Chopin’s childhood home, now a museum in Żelazowa Wola, Warsaw. Through the exhibits, you’ll find numerous priceless memorabilia, such as his musical notes, manuscripts, portraits and many personal items–learn about his life and work including his childhood spent in Warsaw and after he left Poland. Visitors can also enjoy live youth concerts performed by talented local musicians.
- Auschwitz-Birkenau
Visit Auschwitz-Birkenau for a somber but meaningful experience to pay tribute to the approximately 1.1 million victims who lost their lives in the former concentration camp. Take a guided tour for a much more in-depth look into the history of the site. Visitors can book a tour from Krakow to Auschwitz which includes hotel pick-up and private guided tours. Wear comfortable footwear as you’ll be doing a lot of walking and much time will be spent outdoors.
- Wawel Castle
Located in Krakow, Wawel Castle is one of the most well-preserved medieval castles in the country. Situated on the Vistula River bank, the royal castle was built in the 13th century under King Casimir III. The castle is one of the few that survived the destruction of World War II, and it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978. Wawel Castle is now a premier art museum with collections of Renaissance paintings, medieval tapestries, sculptures, Polish crown jewels and much more.
