The Ultimate Guide to Dentists in Albania

How Much Can I Save on Dentistry in Albania Compared to the UK?

One of Europe’s fastest-growing dental tourism destinations, with an increasing number of patients largely from the UK, Germany and Italy making their way to the capital city Tirana, for complex treatments like dental implants and All-on-4 full-mouth reconstructions, and cosmetic treatments such as veneers and crowns.

Low cost does not mean a compromise in quality of care. In fact, prices are higher in the UK and throughout Western Europe not necessarily because dental care is better, but the cost of living among those countries is much higher compared to Albania.

Take a look below at the average cost comparisons between Albania and the UK:

Albania: Know the Basics

Where Is Albania?

Officially called the Republic of Albania, it’s located in the Balkan Peninsula on the Adriatic and Ionian Seas in southeastern Europe. Albania is bordered by multiple countries such as Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia and Greece.

Is Albania Safe?

Albania is a very safe country for visitors even for a solo female traveller. More than 120,000 British nationals visit Albania every year, and most visits are trouble-free. While crime does occur in some areas, reports of crime targeting foreigners are rare. As always, be mindful of pickpockets and keep a close eye on your valuables–you should be safe when taking basic precautions.

Accommodation & Hotels in Albania

We recommend patients stay in the capital, Tirana, where our top recommended dental clinics are located. The city has many budget accommodations starting from around 18 EUR per night, as well as luxury hotels that start around 150 EUR per night.

Albania is not overly touristy and you won’t find hordes of tourists around town, but if you would like to meet fellow travellers and be close to the main attractions, consider staying in Tregu Cam, located in the centre of town with easy access to Skanderbeg Square and the best museums in Tirana. This popular neighbourhood is bustling with cafes, bars, shops and restaurants, as well as some of the most beautiful, historical architecture

Blloku is another happening area best known for nightlife thanks to its hip cocktail bars, trendy restaurants and shops and elegant nightclubs. A far cry from its haunting past, Blloku was once sealed off from the public as it was a residential compound reserved for members of the Albanian Politburo and other Communist ruling elite.

Other interesting areas in Tirana to check out include, Komuna e Parisit, Djetori and Zona 1.

Get in touch with our Customer Care Team for assistance with accommodations.

What Is the Language in Albania? Do Dentists Speak English?

Albanians are generally multilingual with the most widely spoken foreign languages being Italian, Greek and English. Particularly the younger generations, most of whom speak very good English and some are completely fluent.

Our partner clinics employ dentists and staff who are fluent in multiple languages. International patients won’t have to worry about communication during treatment.

 Albania Wheelchair Accessible?

Getting around in a wheelchair has continued to be a challenge in Albania. Communist-era buildings were built without ramps and often had steep stairways. Although newer buildings are built with ramps, they usually provide access to the ground floor only. Outside of major cities in Albania generally don’t have dropped kerbs on the sidewalks, and public buses and most taxis are not wheelchair-friendly.

Contact our Customer Care Team for more information on the Clinic’s wheelchair accessibility.

What Happens If Something Goes Wrong? Is the Work Guaranteed?

Our dentists in Albania guarantee the work performed. Some of our clinics offer a 5-year warranty on all prosthetics made on-site, including veneers, dentures, crowns–and most places offer a lifetime warranty for dental implants. If something does go wrong, Dental Departures will work on patients’ behalf to resolve any issues that may occur.

What Payment Methods Are Accepted by Dentists in Albania?

Albania is a cash society and there are ATMs all around major cities. Their official currency is called lek (ALL). The euro is widely accepted, however, you'll get better deals on purchases and hotels if you use lek. Tourists are urged to carry cash as most places still don’t accept credit cards.

You may want to check with your chosen clinic before travelling if they accept the following methods of payment other than cash:

 - traveller's cheques

 - debit cards

 - credit cards

 - bank transfers

My tooth hurts a lot, but there's no clinic that can do it today. Must make an appointment for a week. So I searched and found it here. So he was brought in for dental work. In conclusion, the root was treated and the toothache was covered. I was very impressed. Most importantly, the price was not high. Cheaper than hospitals or many other places.

Come in and get veneers here. The doctor is on time every time. But in order to get veneers that you feel satisfied with, there must be 1-2 rounds of correction, so you have to wait a bit longer. But overall, I really like the results. I feel more confident and have people watching.

I have had a bad experience with dentistry before. But when I come here Both the staff and the doctor provided knowledge and care for us throughout the dental procedure, so we really trusted them and became our regulars.

I really like the atmosphere in the clinic. Smells like being at a spa. What feels really good is that the clinic is on time. You don't have to wait as long as other places.

The first thing I like is the good atmosphere. The shop is so beautiful that I accidentally entered it when the clinic was not open yet because I thought it was a cafe. 555+ It is beautiful and stylish, breaking all the rules of dental clinics I have been to. Today, I took my child to the dentist with Dr. Sun, a pediatric specialist. The doctor explained in great detail, gave advice on how to take care of the teeth, and had equipment to trick the child into staying still. The assistants were also lovely and friendly. They also provided toys. Plus, I got a lot of balloons to take home. I highly recommend it.

I came for full mouth restoration. I contacted the clinic in advance, the clinic quickly respond with treatment options (all details & prices listed out) tailored for me. Dr.Arm was very friendly. My treatments were smooth. I am satisfied with the results. The clinic also provided me with noise-cancelling headphone.

Gorgeous clinic! I brought my wife here to get her wisdom teeth removed. She said the doctor was really gentle and gave her a very pleasant experience! The price is also much better than expected! (I thought it would be more expensive base on just a beautifully designed clinic!)

Doctor Arm is very gentle. Both tooth filling and scaling are painless.
