Your tooth will be prepared by your dentist on your first visit. A very thin sliver of enamel is removed from the front of the tooth, and an impression taken of your other teeth. It is normal for the prepared tooth to experience some sensitivity to hot and cold until the veneer is placed, but it shouldn’t be too uncomfortable.

When you return to your dentist the veneer will be placed. It is fixed with a light-sensitive resin which hardens using a special white light.

Once in place, your dental veneers are very strong and will usually endure most of the forces exerted on them by a normal diet. However, common-sense should prevail – opening bottle tops with your teeth is likely to be a party piece of the past unless you want to twist your veneers off!
