The dental veneers procedure typically takes two visits to the dentist to complete:

1. Assessment, Treatment Planning and Teeth Preparation: The dentist will first do a thorough examination and assess your teeth and mouth. Diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, will also be taken and the dentist will discuss what your expectations are. If deemed suitable, your dentist will talk you through the various materials that can be used for your veneers, for example, zirconia, porcelain or composite and their pros and cons, as well as their prices. A thin sliver of enamel is removed from the front of the teeth receiving veneers so that when the veneer is placed it will be in line with your other teeth. 2. Affixing Veneers: Once your dentist receives the veneers from the lab, you can return to have them permanently attached to your teeth. The process uses a special adhesive that bonds the veneers to the teeth using a light.

CAD/CAM allows the dentist to use 3D scanning to make a mockup of your mouth on the computer, with the veneer designed on the screen right before your eyes. Once you are both happy with how it looks, the files are sent to a milling machine in the onsite laboratory which creates the veneer while you wait. Your dentist can then fit it there and then.
