Where to Stay in Phuket?

many inexpensive accommodation options in a country already known for affordable tourism.

Is it Safe?

You are more likely to be injured taking part in one of the many activities on offer, so be on guard. Many are needlessly injured in motorcycle accidents, and in the sea you should be on wary of jet-skiers. The riptides around Phuket can be quite powerful, so you'll want to swim only in designated areas.

Is the Quality of Care the Same as Back Home?

The best dental clinics in Phuket deliver high quality, expert dental treatment. However, there are bad dentists and good dentists throughout Thailand, just as you might find at home. This is why we at Dental Departures only recommend clinics we have researched thoroughly ourselves. We know the task of finding a reputable cross-border dentist is daunting; we have made your job easier by including only dentists pre-screened, verified clinics on the Dental Departures website.

Thousands of happy patients have received dental treatment in one of the Dental Departures’ clinics in Phuket, and you can check out their favorable comments, feedback and reviews on our site. We are confident you will not only find the expert dentist and clinic you need, but the price offered will be the best available.

Our past customers have given high marks to Phuket International Dental Center and Phuket Cosmetic Dental Clinic, particularly patients seeking more complex treatments such as implants, dentures, or a full-mouth restoration.

What Happens If Something Goes Wrong? Does My Phuket Dentist Guarantee the Work?

Dental clinics here are committed to providing exceptional treatment and facilities, particularly to their overseas patients. They will go that extra mile to ensure that you are happy with every aspect of the treatment you receive while under their care.

Sometimes, however, problems do occur that are not necessarily the fault of the dentist or the lab. In this unlikely event, all the lab work, as well as the actual procedure, are covered under a no-quibble warranty.

While less than one percent of our patients experience problems with the dental treatment they receive, you can rest assured that any appointments scheduled through Dental Departures will be speedily resolved. Dental Departures is working on your behalf and we aim to give you all the help and support possible.

Do Dentists Speak English?

Dentists in our best clinics do speak fluent English as many have conducted their training in clinics in English-speaking countries and are dependent upon an English-speaking international clientele.

What Payment Methods are Accepted by Phuket Dentists?

  • Cash - Australian and US dollars, Euros and British Sterling
  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • Diners Club

Credit cards are generally the preferred method of payment. You can check what specific cards each clinic accepts in the ‘summary’ section of each clinic’s write-up on this website. For credit cards, a small surcharge of 3-4% may apply.

When Is the Best Time to Visit a Phuket Dentist?

November through May are the peak tourism months in Phuket. The weather is more temperate (in the lower 80's Fahrenheit; 27°C) with calmer seas than in monsoon season. Off-season–May through October–tends to be wetter, although visitors usually experience intermittent showers with sunny breaks throughout the day. Off-peak months bring bargains on flights and lodging, and many Phuket dentists offer special discounts during this time. Patients planning to travel during the peak season should schedule travel and appointments well in advance.

Is Phuket Wheelchair Friendly?

Phuket may prove a challenge for wheelchair accessibility, as pavements and sidewalks are uneven and without dropped kerbs. Day and nighttime crowds make navigating difficult, and most Patong beaches are not equipped with ramps.

Established hotels offer services for the disabled, and our best dentists provide shuttle services to and from your lodging.

What is the Downside? What Should I Know About Visiting Phuket?

Phuket is a beautiful island and travellers have been coming here for many years. Some resorts, such as Patong, are particularly geared toward visitors, including more than its share of bars, clubs, go-go dancers and other nightlife activities.

Patong is not for everyone: prices here tend to be more expensive than elsewhere on the island, even with hard bartering, as the locals take advantage of newly-arrived, disorientated tourists. Quieter beach destinations, such as Tri Tra Beach, Freedom Beach and Paradise Beach as a few minutes down the road.

As when visiting other destinations, remember not to leave your common-sense at home.

What Else Is There in Phuket?

Phuket is renowned for its stunning scenery, including remote rainforests on Ko Yao, the limestone cliffs of Phang Nga Bay, the picturesque islands such as Phi Phi, the hipster capital Phuket Town and of course, its miles of shimmering white beaches dipping into azure-colored water.

In addition to the natural beauty of the beaches and the nightlife in Patong, an array of options cater to tourists of all interests. For the active and curious, Phuket offers a multitude of activities, including bike riding, safaris, white water rafting, bungee jumping, elephant rides and Thai cookery lessons. For those who want to take it extra easy, cruises, Thai massage and spas provide Thai-style indulgence, relaxation and recuperation. For classic shoppers, the market stalls in Old Phuket Town will not disappoint.

Travelling to Phuket

Phuket International Airport is Thailand’s second-largest airport, after Bangkok.  Travelers can choose from a wide inventory of flights and fares from Australia, New Zealand, the EU and the US, as well as other international airports in the region, including Jakarta, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Domestic budget flights to Bangkok and other Thai cities also fly from here.

From Phuket International Airport, taxis are plentiful, and the Phuket Airport Bus Express runs approximately every 75 minutes from around 8am-9pm, stopping at areas including Patong, Karon and Kata Beaches.

Getting Around Phuket

Phuket is a large island and you will need to use some form of transport if you want to make the most of what the island has to offer. Public transport is very limited, although a variety of available options are cheap and commonplace.

Taxi: Comes in three flavors: metered taxis, unmetered taxis and the bright red, and sometimes yellow three-wheeled "tuk-tuks." When available, metered taxis are a much better option and are more comfortable and usually cheaper than tuk-tuks. However, during busy periods even these drivers will ignore the meter and demand a flat fare. Tuk-tuks have no meter, so always agree a price and bargain hard before you get in. You'll see unofficial taxi shacks on the beach, usually supported by a hotel. They are usually more expensive than tuk-tuks, and usually air-conditioned.

Motorcycle taxi: The cheapest way of getting around, but for obvious reasons not as safe as being on four wheels.

Bus and tram: A cheap, but not necessarily comfortable, way of getting about. Most run between 5 am and 11 pm; night buses run from 3 am.

Boat: For island-hopping, the colorful long-tail boats are a thrill.

Car and motorcycle hire: While you'll find plenty of auto and motorcycle rental options on the island, renting a car to drive around Phuket is not recommended for all. The winding roads, coupled with the bad driving habits of both locals and tourists, make it an accident blackspot.

However, for seasoned and hopefully sober drivers, renting an auto is one of the best ways to get around the island on your own time and at your own pace. It helps if you are accustomed to driving on the left. A passport and an international driving permit are required.

Top in every respect The Medic Antalya Dental Clinic, The team is not only highly competent but also incredibly friendly. I can recommend this clinic with a clear conscience

Joachim H

I was there 3 weeks ago and had my lower jaw done. The first contact was very good. After I sent the X-ray images to the clinic, very easily via WhatsApp, specific questions were asked to assess the current situations. All eventualities were discussed/mentioned. I then received a cost plan very quickly. The appointment arrangement also worked perfectly. Flights booked, that’s it. When we arrived in Antalya (due to a delay at 3 a.m.) we were personally picked up and taken to the hotel despite the delay. On the morning of the operation we were picked up by the driver in good time. The treatment that followed was the best treatment I have ever received from a dentist. Since I am an “anxious patient”, I was immediately given something to calm me down. Then, on the chair, a spray was sprayed into my mouth before the injections, which numbed everything a bit so that I hardly noticed the injections. In total the treatment lasted 3 hours. I really didn't feel any pain at any time. You just have to “endure” the noises and vibrations. I was then given painkillers and antibiotics and taken back to the hotel. When the anesthesia wore off I only had slight pain. In the evening I was able to eat mashed potatoes and fried eggs. I don't use the temporary solution that was made. Since I also had bone augmentation, no solid temporary solution could be used. Now I'll wait until January and then the teeth will finally be firmly attached to the implants. So I can recommend this clinic without reservation.

Just got back from Antalya in turkey with my temporary fixed dentures after have the first part of my “All on 6” treatment. These guys have been amazing with myself and my two friends who both had veneer crowns. I can’t recommend them enough if you plan on getting any dental work done over in turkey. Once I’ve finished my treatment in about 6 months time I will leave another review or update this one. UPDATE!!! Now completely finished my all on 6 treatment and wow. I have an amazing smile. Still the best place to go I’m my opinion. All the staff are very friendly. VIP transfers. Amazing dental facilities. I would recommend them to anyone who was looking to get some dental work.
