Booking your dental care with a reliable, quality-checked dentist is the best way to help ensure high-quality standards of care and a satisfying clinical outcome.

Dentists in Mexico are required to undergo general dentist training in the same way as your dentists back home. Dentists who treat international patients often have received specialist training, many in the United States. You can find details of our dentists' credentials on the Dental Departures website.

While not every dental clinic in Mexico is up to the same standards as your dentist at home, our verified clinics do have exceptionally good facilities, with highly advanced technology and the same branded high-quality materials available. This is why more than 500,000 North Americans visit Mexico every year for dental care, with overwhelmingly successful results.

The hottest temperatures occur in April – June at around 83-86°F; average highs at the coolest time (October – December) run between 76-79°F. The heaviest rainfall occurs from June through September; showers are not sustained and it will be bright and sunny between downpours.

Our dentists are open all year round, and so you will be able to book an appointment whenever you decide to visit. Because Ajijic is a winter destination for North American retirees and snowbirds from North America, our dentists are generally busier during these times, with accommodation charges at a premium. You can always find discounts on airfares and accommodation during the low season, so it may be worth bearing this in mind to enjoy the best savings.

Is Ajijic Wheelchair Friendly?

Ajijic’s cobblestoned streets sloping toward the lake will prove challenging in a wheelchair. However, Ajijic boasts evenly-paved spacious walkways around the lake. You will find wheelchair-friendly lodging, including hotels, motels and bed and breakfast inns.

Let us know your requirements, as we will help guide you to a wheelchair-friendly dentist.

What is the Downside? What Should I Know About Visiting?

Warm weather, happy people and a slower pace of life – if these are not to your liking then Ajijic is not for you!

Regarding your dental care, unlike at home, sedation is not a standard means of pain relief throughout Mexico. While local anesthetic used by all our dentists, many do not offer sedation dentistry, which requires the services of an anesthesiologist at an additional $400-$600. Anxiety medication such as Valium is available with advance request.

Dental Departures can help you find a dentist with these services so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

What Else is There in Town?

In common with most Mexican towns and cities, there is the ubiquitous plaza – a beautiful verdant space with palm trees, flowers and a pavilion – the perfect place to unwind and people-watch. About a block away from the lake is the Lake Chapala Society, set among large botanical gardens and offering all sorts of activities from scrabble tournaments to arts and crafts classes.

Ajijic’s cobbled streets are lined with restaurants, art galleries and stores– giving you plenty to do and see on the walk to the lakeside. At the edge of the lake is a public park, equipped with fire pits and grills for you to prepare and enjoy your own picnic. You will be greeted with spectacular views across the lake to the mountains; at night the horizon is dotted with lights from villages.

The colorful Chapala handicrafts market is good for bric-a-brac and souvenirs, and nearby Christiania Park has a large playground for children.

Events and festivals take place throughout the year, including the popular International Chili Cook-Off. The Charro Society hosts local rodeo riders in full Mexican attire.

I was there 3 weeks ago and had my lower jaw done. The first contact was very good. After I sent the X-ray images to the clinic, very easily via WhatsApp, specific questions were asked to assess the current situations. All eventualities were discussed/mentioned. I then received a cost plan very quickly. The appointment arrangement also worked perfectly. Flights booked, that’s it. When we arrived in Antalya (due to a delay at 3 a.m.) we were personally picked up and taken to the hotel despite the delay. On the morning of the operation we were picked up by the driver in good time. The treatment that followed was the best treatment I have ever received from a dentist. Since I am an “anxious patient”, I was immediately given something to calm me down. Then, on the chair, a spray was sprayed into my mouth before the injections, which numbed everything a bit so that I hardly noticed the injections. In total the treatment lasted 3 hours. I really didn't feel any pain at any time. You just have to “endure” the noises and vibrations. I was then given painkillers and antibiotics and taken back to the hotel. When the anesthesia wore off I only had slight pain. In the evening I was able to eat mashed potatoes and fried eggs. I don't use the temporary solution that was made. Since I also had bone augmentation, no solid temporary solution could be used. Now I'll wait until January and then the teeth will finally be firmly attached to the implants. So I can recommend this clinic without reservation.

Wonderful Clinic. The clinic staff is helpful at every step. I had concerns before coming to the clinic, but now I am very satisfied. DT. RASIH conjured up a beautiful smile. Very committed, paying attention to every detail. The coordinator Idil was very helpful. My wife and I are going back in March for my wife's dental treatment. I wholeheartedly recommend.

Just got back from Antalya in turkey with my temporary fixed dentures after have the first part of my “All on 6” treatment. These guys have been amazing with myself and my two friends who both had veneer crowns. I can’t recommend them enough if you plan on getting any dental work done over in turkey. Once I’ve finished my treatment in about 6 months time I will leave another review or update this one. UPDATE!!! Now completely finished my all on 6 treatment and wow. I have an amazing smile. Still the best place to go I’m my opinion. All the staff are very friendly. VIP transfers. Amazing dental facilities. I would recommend them to anyone who was looking to get some dental work.

Hello everyone, I can only agree with the other positive reviews. My treatment, which consisted of zirconium crowns, was well organized and carried out very competently by a young, cheerful dentist. I wasn't promised too much and I can say that it looks very aesthetic Our translator, Aysim, was always present during my treatment if there were any questions. The stay and the rich buffet in the hotel were also great. Conclusion: I can recommend this treatment to anyone who is dissatisfied with their current dental situation (discolored, eroded) and has good tooth structure

Thank you guys so much! Kind regards,
