Georgia is one of the fastest-growing dental tourism sectors in Europe, with more and more patients opting to visit the impressive port city of Batumi, as well as the capital of Tbilisi that lies nearly 400 kilometres to the west.
Thanks to low costs, high treatment success rates, friendly and professional care and a plethora of coastal attractions dotted across this ever-expanding city, now is a great time to travel to Batumi for dental care, with rates between 60% and 70% less than in the UK and other European countries.
Find fully background-checked dentists, price lists, patients reviews, travel tips, promotions and clinic booking information with this Dental Departures destination guide.
In fact, some people go as far as referring to Batumi as the “ Las Vegas of the Black Sea " thanks to its fairly small but quality range of casinos, attracting thousands of punters every day from nearby countries where gambling is generally illegal, like Israel and Turkey.
Visitors also flock here to soak up—quite literally—the therapeutic properties of the Black Sea. Also known as the Euxine Sea, the high salt content and natural minerals found in the water here are said to help with a range of health conditions and ailments, such as poor circulation and skin issues. As a result, the city has a number of nearby coastal resorts, such as Anaklia and Ureki, that are home to health spas, mud baths, thermal pools and high-end yet relatively inexpensive holiday resorts.
Back in the city, visitors will find Batumi offers a refreshing blend of 21st-century high-rise buildings, modern shopping and leisure developments, as well as 19th-century architecture, much of which is found in the Old Town quarter. This pretty part of the city has undergone continuous renovation over the last few years in an effort to maintain its old-world charm—with many hip new cafes, restaurants and bars having set up shop in once derelict buildings.
Although the standard of dental care in Georgia’s big two cities of Batumi and Tbilisi is generally very high, that doesn’t mean we would recommend walking into the first clinic you see.
But nor are you required spend hours scrolling through countless sites before you go; we’ve done all the homework for you—presenting only the best clinics and experienced dentists in Batumi on our site.
Before any clinic is listed, it must pass our stringent background checks and vetting process, which includes:
Onsite, making sure that centres use the latest advances in dental technology, like computer-assisted design/computer-assisted manufacture (CAD/CAM) technology.
Verifying licenses, ensuring all dentists practising at our partner clinics are registered with the Georgia Board of Dentistry.
Verification of professional memberships, such as domestic endodontic, implantology and prosthodontic associations.
Checking that clinics adhere to EU-wide regulations regarding dental best practices in terms of infection prevention and hygiene.
Carrying out interviews with past patients, with reviews published on our site (negative as well as positive).Updating other important information, such as dental implant brands, prices, ongoing promotions, map locations and opening hours.
This rule applies to several regions, such as those in the US seeking more affordable care in Mexico or Costa Rica; or Aussies and Kiwis travelling to Southeast Asia in search of more low-cost treatment in countries like Thailand and Malaysia.
In the case of Georgia, patients based in the UK or Germany, where dental costs are amongst the most expensive in the world, can maximise their savings thanks to the relatively short flight time, low-cost accommodation and significant savings on treatment, which we detail below.

Georgia’s second-largest city—located a good 400 kilometres closer to the UK and the rest of Europe than the capital of Tbilisi—makes for a superb getaway, whether or not you’re travelling for dental care.
With a subtropical climate, visitors can expect warm temperatures from May to August, while the autumnal and winter months are also a good time to come thanks to the myriad of art, music and other cultural festivities and events in the run-up to Christmas and New Year.
Situated right next to the famously salty, calm waters of the Black Sea, Batumi is also a base from where thousands of tourists use to visit nearby summer holiday resorts, with long stretches of beaches, coastal nature reserves and spa towns all driving distance (or a short train ride) from the city center.
When pursuing the city, it’s hard to ignore the obviously recent influx of new developments, including modern hotels, glass-clad office towers and modern shopping complexes—all making the Batumi tourist experience feel more like visiting a Central European capital rather than an ex-soviet state.
In your downtime between appointments, try booking an interesting walking tour of the old city center; take a wander past the Alphabet Tower along the waterside promenade (which is illuminated at night); try some traditional, hearty Georgian cuisine at one of the alfresco restaurants in the city center; take a look around St. Nicolas Church, an impressive Greek Orthodox church; or hunt for some modern street art dotted around the side-streets in the form of creative, colorful and often-inspiring murals.
