Root canals in Ho Chi Minh City are only a tenth of the price you’d pay at home - saving you an enormous 90% - and a couple of thousand dollars. Rather than lose your tooth isn’t it worth trying to save it?
Root canal treatments seem to fill everybody with dread – but there really isn’t any need. Apart from the fact they may take a little while to do, you shouldn’t have any worse after-effects than if you’d undergone a tooth filling – a bit of a numb mouth for a few hours should be the extent of it.
Depending on the extent of the treatment you need, you may be required to spend up to two weeks in Ho Chi Minh City, but we’re sure you won’t take too much persuasion to make a holiday out of it!

The most obvious reason is the cost, but it’s no use skimping on the price if your treatment is going to be inferior.
Root canals are carried out by specialist dentists, called endodontists. You can search for a dentist who can perform the particular treatment you require on our website – in just a few clicks.
There are plenty of myths concerning dental treatment overseas, citing that qualifications, training or experience is not the same. However, modern dentistry is accessible throughout the world. New techniques and best practices quickly become established across the globe, and with cross-border training and international professional organizations, standards are far less variable. This is providing, of course, you do a little background research on your chosen dentist, procedure and destination.
Dental Departures does this with all of our dentists and clinics. We check criminal and legal records, dentist qualifications, professional memberships and real patient reviews. Visiting clinics and publishing high-definition clinic photos is also part of the process, so all our patients can make a decision for themselves as to whether a dentist is right for them.
You may have to be around for up to 2 weeks, but this doesn’t mean you’ll be at the dentist every day – far from it. There are just several stages which need to be worked through to ensure your treatment is successful.
The actual treatment is usually carried out in one day, but your dentist will want to wait and see for a few days that there are no signs of infection before the final fillings are put in to seal the canals. If you have had a particularly big tooth filled, you may also have to have a crown, which will take an additional few days. Also, if you have had an infection, your dentist will not perform a root canal until this has cleared up. You can get antibiotics from your dentist at home for this, unless you plan on staying in Ho Chi Minh City for longer than 2 weeks.
At your first appointment (if you don’t have an infection) your dentist will perform the root canal procedure after x-rays have been taken, which will show the extent of the problem and how many root canals there are. Teeth have between 1 and 3 roots, each with 1 or 2 canals, so there may be potentially 6 canals for your dentist to clear of debris. When each one is cleared, they will be cleaned thoroughly and packed with a temporary filling. This filling is left in place for a few days to make sure there is no infection.
When you return to your dentist, if no infection is present, the permanent fillings will be administered and your tooth prepared to receive a crown, if needed. You may have to come back another few days later to have the crown permanently installed.
In Australia, root canal treatments, including post core and crown are as much as AUD $2,800 per tooth, but a root canal in Ho Chi Minh City could be as little as AUD $280.
