Tbilisi is emerging as a reputable city for dental tourism, with our verified partner clinics offering the chance to save up to 70% on normally expensive procedures, like dental implants.
In this guide, we look at why you might want to consider this charming Georgian capital for dental implants, particularly if you’re interested in combining low-cost care with a culture-packed city break.
Dental implants, which are essentially artificial tooth roots, are the optimal way to replace one, several or an entire arch of missing or decaying teeth. The titanium or zirconia post is embedded into the jawbone, with a custom-made crown or other prosthetic device affixed using an abutment several months later.
But here’s the problem: for many people, particularly those in the UK where costs are among the highest in the world, such treatment simply isn’t viable. Thus, patients often resort to cheaper alternative solutions, such as partial dentures or a tooth-supported bridge.
This is the main driving force behind dental travel out of the UK to other European destinations, with Georgia offering even greater potential savings on dental implant treatment compared to other, closer-to-home countries, such as Spain or Hungary.
Even though two trips may be required to complete the implant restoration, the overall course of treatment may well be far quicker than undergoing treatment back home, as our partner clinics in Tbilisi can often see patients on short notice and are geared for servicing international patients.
Popular dental implant procedures available in Tbilisi include:
Traditional “endosteal” dental implants are surgically placed in the jawbone, normally used to replace single teeth along with a porcelain crown.
Subperiosteal implants, which sit just underneath the gum line.
Zygomatic implants, surgically placed into the zygomatic bone (a common option for patients who have suffered bone loss or shrinkage).
Immediate load (or “same-day”) implants.
Removable implant-supported overdenture on 4, 6 or 8 mini implants
Permanent “ All-on-X ” methods, such as an All-on-6 or the All-on-4® treatment concept by Nobel Biocare, where a whole arch of teeth is replaced with a permanently fixed prosthesis.
Find out more about undergoing these different types of dental implant treatment abroad with this guide.
Most dental implant procedures are a two-step process, often necessitating two trips to Tbilisi around 4–6 months apart:
Stage 1: After a consultation, evaluations and planning, the implants are surgically embedded in the jaw (under local anaesthetic). Time needed in Tbilisi = usually 3–5 days minimum.
Stage 2: Upon your return to Georgia, once the dentist has confirmed that the posts have successfully fused with the jawbone, the permanent crown or final fixed prosthesis can be affixed on top using an abutment. Time needed in Tbilisi = 2–4 days minimum.
A dental implant including abutment and crown costs between EUR 700–1,500 (GBP 600–1,250) in Tbilisi.
The same full course of treatment in the UK may cost upwards of EUR 3,000 (GBP 2,500)
For more extensive work like a full arch restoration with multiple implants, expect prices to be anywhere between EUR 5,000 and EUR 10,000 in Georgia.

Tbilisi (pronounced tuh·BLEE·see) is the capital city of Georgia, a diverse country that borders Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Armenia. The region boasts a chunk of Black Sea coastline, the Caucasus mountains , stunning Switzerland-esque valleys, waterfalls, caves and one of the most unique wine industries on Earth.
If you’re only planning to stay in the city while undergoing treatment, don’t worry: you’ll be in no short supply of things to do in your downtime between appointments.
The Old Town is the best place to stay, where you can spend hours meandering through cobblestone streets, stumbling across ancient fortress ruins, colorful townhouses, old churches, a cathedral, as well as hipster hangout spots like cafes, galleries, boutique shops and parks.

The flight time from the UK is around five hours; however, direct flights are often in short supply.
Instead, you may need to have a quick stopover in a country en route, but this should only lengthen your journey time by a couple of hours.
Popular airlines to book with are airBaltic, Pegasus Airlines and Turkish Airlines.

As we’ve mentioned, no trip to Tbilisi is complete without exploring the charming Old Town area, which also happens to be where most of the hotels and our partner clinics are located.
