If you are thinking of replacing old amalgam fillings replacing old amalgam fillings, either for health or aesthetic reasons, Mexico may be the perfect solution to a problem that would cost you many hundreds of dollars at home. 

The size or position of the tooth will affect how long your dental filling will take. Front teeth are smaller and, therefore, easier to fill. Back teeth may have to have ‘indirect fillings’ on a number of surfaces, and this will take longer.

The procedure is relatively straightforward – you will be given a local anesthetic to numb the area surrounding the affected tooth. The decayed area is drilled out and the area cleaned, filled and shaped. It can take as little as half an hour.

An ‘indirect filling’ will necessitate a crown. So, after removing the decay and cleaning the tooth impressions are made to send to the lab. You may have a temporary crown fitted until the permanent crown is ready. After a few days you will return to the dentist to have it fitted permanently in place. 

In the US dental fillings start at around $155, whereas in Mexico they are around $60.
